OAK POND GUN DOGS
Basic Obedience Training
I offer two programs for basic obedience. The first level is for younger puppies generally from the age of 2 to 4 months. The second level is more geared for puppies in the 4 to 6 month age group. This is just a standard guide, every puppy is different so an individual program will be developed for your puppy.
Level One Obedience
If you are looking to get your puppy off to a fast start you may want to consider this program. Your puppy will receive one on one training for all the basic commands that we, as hunters, require of our dogs. I program will be set up based on the individual puppy. Temperment, enthusiasm, tractablility and excitement are all taken into consideration in the development of your puppy's program. Some of the commands that will be instilled are as follows:
Sit Stay Down Here Heel
Please understand that at this age your puppy needs to do a lot of learning on his own. This is the point in his development that he learns his place in "the pack" or your family. Starting some basic obedience at this early age is not recommended for every dog. The most important thing will do with your puppy at this age is socialization. He will be exposed to many situations to help get him comfortable with the many distractions that he may face as he grows up.
Level Two Obedience
At this level I expect the puppy to have done a lot of socializing and have some of the basic groundwork laid as far as his obedience. I will take the five main commands a bit further and the puppy will be required to obey more consistantly. Your puppy will be trained at least twice a day in a one on one manner. Because every puppy is different, a set time table is not possible to determine. I feel that a puppy should be very solid on his obedience and the end of this Level Two program.
